Suggested Course Sequence

Spanish majors, please observe the following sequence of courses. Note that, even though study abroad may alter this block schedule, it is strongly suggested that you follow the sequence in choosing your courses. Consult with your academic advisor whenever in doubt. A semester abroad implies that you may complete your requirements before your date of graduation.


A. Those who begin at the 30000 level

 

Freshman Year

 

Fall:       31403                               
Spring:  31203 (and 31103 if possible)*  

 

Sophomore Year

 

Fall:       31103,  32503 or 32703**

Spring:  32603 or 32803 (Culture may be taken at this time)

 

Junior Year

 

Fall:       32003 or 32203 (or 32103 in Spring), Elective

Spring:   40000-literature, Elective

 

Senior Year

 

Fall:       40000-literature, Senior Seminar***

Spring:   Take a course for pleasure

 

 

* Heritage and native speakers must substitute 31103 with an additional elective.

** The Panorama series must be taken soon after 31403, 31203, and 31103 (or concurrently with 31103).

*** The Senior Seminar must be taken during the final year of the student's completion of the Spanish major.

 

B. Those who begin at the 10000 or 20000 level

 

Freshman Year

 

Fall:       10113-10213 or 20103

Spring:   20113-20213 or 20203

 

Sophomore Year

 

Fall:       31403

Spring:  31203 and 31103

 

Junior Year

 

Fall:       32503 or 32703, Elective
Spring:   32603 or 32803, 32103


Senior Year

 

Fall:       40000-literature, Elective
