Mary McKinney is Instructor and Coordinator of the lower division Spanish courses. She teaches classes at the introductory level as well as the upper division courses Culture and Civilization of Spain, Spanish for Business, Spanish for Healthcare, and Service-Learning in the Latino Community. She began the TCU in Madrid Summer Study Abroad program in 2001 and has lead several trips to Madrid where she also teaches a class about Spain. She has made several national and international conference presentations on teaching culture, Spanish for the professions, and Service-Learning for foreign language classes.
Dr. McKinney has received several grants to implement Service-Learning in her culture and healthcare classes, one of which was an inaugural grant as a Founding Faculty Fellow of the Texas Campus Compact. She serves on the editorial board of their new journal Compact Impact: The Journal of the Texas Compact and its Advisory Board. She is a Fulbright Scholar and serves on the Executive Board of the North Texas Chapter of the Fulbright Association.
On campus, Dr. McKinney is co-sponsor of Sigma Delta Pi Spanish Honor Society, Academic Coach for Pi Kappa Phi fraternity, Faculty Participant in summer Frog Camps, and Faculty Mentor for Connections. She is a member of the Service-Learning Faculty Steering Committee and the Study Abroad Task Force. |
